As posted earlier; moved to Hoschton, Georgia to be closer to the children who live in the Atlanta area!

One of the gifts of getting older is the recognition that every day is a gift and blessing and you should begin the day with a grateful heart.

What a wonderful time; to look back in your memories and see all the fantastic people who have crossed your path. The people in your youth who had faith in you and helped guide your journey. The friends from long ago that still when you think of them makes your heart happy. The things you achieved; but in your youth seemed out of reach and never to be. Looking back and seeing that you were loved and that God had been with you the entire journey even when you thought he wasn't!

Much love to all; Peace and most of all thank you! Thank you for crossing my path.

God's Blessings to all!

UPDATE: 5/1/2013; Never say never, yep at our age, we have relocated again. Just finished our move to Hoschton, Georgia which is a rual area about 30 miles East of Atlanta. Our children live in the Atlanta area and they have wanted us to be closer for a lot of years. They say "dad and mom, you are getting older and need to be closer" Ha! They are right. Life goes on and they want us closer than 500 miles away. To date, we have been in reasonable health, but one never knows. The day before our furniture was delivered, I fell and sprained my wrist; thus Susan was without help to unpack....many have claimed I did it on purpose; but I did not! I am going to leave the prior updates posted for a while. It tells a story I am proud of, I enjoyed my Roswell days, and what a fine time in which to grow up. Peace and Blessings to all.

UPDATE: 8/2010; I was in Albuquerque 2 weeks ago and drove down to Roswell to see my aunt just for the day and just rode around town. Has been almost 40 years since I any spent time there. I was through there in 2004, but did not drive around much. It has really, really changed; but I was surprised that I remember places and things. The places for the most part are still there. RHS OUTSIDE HAD NOT CHANGED MUCH! Just driving around and the memories made me thankful that I could still remember! Ha! Guess I am not getting that old as yet! LOL

Now back in Florida.

Although I moved back to the Texas area from Florida in 2007 for "a job". My wife and I still kept our home in Florida, it was a great two years but it is great to be home. I am greatful that I spent the last 2 years in Texas. I had the opportunity to renew loving relationships with family that I had not had in almost 40 years because of moving around the county. For many of my remaining family members, this period is near the end of their earthly life, and what a blessing it has been to become close and experience their love and memories.

As our children live in the Atlanta area we will be closer now that we live in Florida and will still focus over the next several years to find our place in the north Georgia mountains.

I married in 1970 to a girl that I met on a blind date in the Hartford Conn. train station in 1969. She worked for National Airlines in NYC. We have moved all over the southern part of the US. This is our 3rd time in the Houston, Texas area.

In 2004, I was through Roswell with my mother and her brother. She had been ill and I took them on a road trip to see her sister. She passed later that year. That was the only time I had been back in almost 40 years.

Seeing the pictures of the reunion brought back lots of memories. What a joy it must have been.

Although I missed this one, the 50th will be on my list.

Best to all and God bless.

School Story:

Not really a school story; but looking at the pictures was a hoot! Either in late 2007 or early 2008, I was at a meeting in Austin and was chatting with those attending. One "older gentleman" and I were discussing that we were both raised in NM, I said I was raised in Roswell and he said likewise, I told him that I graduated in 1964 and he said likewise. It was Bill Tarro....needless to say..I think both of us were surprised.

Years ago in Houston, I worked for the same company as Mike Waller. I got on the elevator one day to head to lunch and there he was..what a shock for us both. He was a computer guy and I ran benefits for the same oil company. He and I got together from time to time and I believe he still lives in the Houston area. Merle Freyer was I believe a sister-in-law to Waller and lived in Houston as well. I believe she was a school teacher.

I knew Jim McKenna from about the second grade on up till we graduate high school and his folks move to Albuquerque when the air base closed. Jim lived on Delaware across the street from Hazel Wilkins. I live on North Ohio.

Hazel's mom Edith was a real hoot. She would razz us kids and chase us around. One day she was horsing around with us kids in the neighborhood and ran into Jim's Hedge Bushes that went around his house and got sticks stuck into her knee, she just laughed, pulled the sticks out and put a bandaid on and proceeded to continue chase a around!

Jim's family had one of the first color TVs around our neighborhood. Because I had such an interest in World War II because just about every kid that I knew had a parent that served during World War II I was interested in World War II television. At that time there were two television series that were World War II oriented. Combat and The Gallant Men  and I arranged to, just happen to be over at his house at least twice a week so I could just happen to watch the TV series in color. This was in the early 1960 or so!

I'm sure  his dad and mom never  suspected and wised up to the fact that I just happened to be over to visit on the  nights the shows were on...  LOL!

Jim had a younger brother which I do not recall his name but we all played together. I can still see us now riding our bicycles through the alleys to get to each other's house.

All the parents somewhat permitted us to play after-dark as long as we were home by 9pm  in the evening. Just worked out well for me because the TV shows that I was interested in seeing in color over his house usually were over by 8pm.

Fun times I was sorry to hear of his death.
